transforming spaces...

Bright Bold Breaks
Our latest project in Chesterfield, VA, #boldbrightbreaks was a request to help our clients of 6 years to create a colorful but relaxing room as they transformed their covered porch into an additional room!
We found a great 70's style sofa on Facebook, removed the skirt, added a bright yellow fabric and changed the 3 cushion seat to a bench cushion. We had some beautiful swivel rocker chairs in our collection (for 4 years, just waiting for the right clients), added a animal print fabric to them with a black velvet contrast welt and tied everything together to finish off this transformational space. And the artwork was the cherry on top of the cake! Wow!

Peace of Mine
We transformed this children's playroom to our clients new quiet lounge in Vienna, VA.
We went with calming colors and understated accessories.

World Travelers
This Family Room started out as a basic Builders Grade palette.
The first decision had us add in the louvered wall to hide the entrance to the Powder Room.
Painted the walls, changed the fireplace and lots of furnishings and accessories.

Retreat Renew
Where we rest and refresh is so important to our overall well being. And anytime we work with clients on their bedrooms we are very mindful of just that...rest and renewal!
This bedroom started out with a dark wall, dark furniture and didn't really match our clients style. In our minds we wanted to add texture, a lighter blue color to the palette and evoke calm and serenity vibes.

An Earthy Retreat
We transformed this dated bathroom into an earthy retreat that reminds our clients of their trips to Bermuda.
One of their favorite vacation spots...
The angled walls we decided to add texture and to a much more relaxing neutral palette. We took this beautiful double floating vanity by James Martin to a new level by adding in fully integrated sinks which helped to bring some whimsy and a modern vibe to the room.
The old tub was removed and replaced with a larger shower and a new linen closet (which was a must).

An Integrated Lifestyle...
This Owner's Suite has been one of favorite projects so far. The clients had full trust in our designs and allowed us "artistic freedom" to really change their Bathroom and Bedroom!

Neutral and Blush Moments
This Family Room really needed some fresh updates, we started with creams, grays, gold, black accents!
The Dining Room needed a statement piece so we designed a custom table by Dekton.

A Kitchen for Him
We started out with a dated Kitchen that was a throw back from the 1990's that did not function at all for these clients. There was a walkway that closed off access to the laundry room and dining rooms. So, the wall came down and opened up the opportunity for us to add more cabinetry and even an island for the chef! The backsplash is of course white but the herringbone pattern elevates the look but doesn't add any new colors. The once wooden floor is now a grey color which lifted the white cabinets up to an even better experience. Now the family can be together without feeling cramped and closed in. Our Team has done it again!

Not so boring Kitchen
We totally transformed this dated Kitchen into a beautiful open space. The old layout had a wall between the kitchen, laundry room and dining room which made the kitchen so small. There was also an opening between the kitchen and the living room, which we closed off. And removing the wall allowed us to not only add additional cabinets but also there was no room for an island! The original kitchen was dark and small, a frustrating space for someone who loves to cook and entertain! Now, the entire family can join him while he prepares meals. The island also houses the microwave, which again makes the best use of the wall cabinets.

Not your basic White Kitchen
Look back at the before photos and imagine all the changes we've made to this kitchen.
When we started there was a wall that separated the kitchen from the laundry room and dining space.
It was dark and uninviting!
So we brightened it up and added so great details like the herringbone backsplash, a new island, all new appliances and some glass pendant lights.

Staged to Sell +
This Townhouse had good bones but it felt dark and uninviting! We created a transitional look that anyone who stopped by could see themselves living there. The dark leather furniture and accessories looked like a bachelor's pad than a home for a Family. If you're thinking of selling your space, add to bring neutral colors to your walls. Remember: You may want to think differently about your color choices for potential buyers. By staging his home, he was able to increase his asking price by an increase of $35,000!

Coffee Please
What a huge transformation this was. We took two rooms and combined them into a larger Kitchen for this family of four.
The non-load bearing wall helped to open up the kitchen and dining spaces. We changed the flooring, all new cabinets, lighting a faux beam, and eat-in area and lots of storage.

Before

Modern, Pretty & Pink
This couple found a great Townhouse in an excellent location in Fairfax, VA, and we were honored to help them transform these rooms into something that represented them! She loves pinks, golds, creams and grays. He loves modern vibes and clean lines.
So we created a visual separation by adding in a table to the back of the sofa, put down a large are rug and layered in textures and pale tones. Added in a Samsung Frame TV (a must for him) in the living space totally creating maximal seating for their family and friends. Next, up was the dining space, which had dark furniture and not much style...so we brought in some great pieces, art, another console table and wow, what a transformation!

Pretty Modern Pink

A Rustic Transitional Lounge
Our clients already had a great room, it just needed some updating. The original chairs, ottomans and dark striped rug made the space feel cluttered and too busy. The fireplace mantle needed a top cap with corbels, to finish the rustic look. Next up, we simply add a second matching sofa so coordinating accessories, to bring this space together for this family of 4!

A Curved Moment
This sofa/sectional by Lexington furniture really opened up this Living space. It brought a softer approach as you enter the room, than the previous rectangular shaped sofa. We added in textured rug, glass table and reused the client existing tables. Lastly, we customized the brass table lamp shades by using the leftover fabric from the drapery panels in their Sunroom (not pictured here). And what a transformation...

We love blending patterns and textures on upholstered pieces.
This was a much more vibrant room with hints of brown, orange and even a little green!

The glass top table helps to keep the space light and airy.
Look closely you'll see the brass features in the coffee table and table lamps!

Before the magic began!
The room wasn't bad it just need some pops of color and a bit of texture.

Small but Mighty
The original bathroom for this home that was built in the 90's. The sink was separate from the rest of the bathroom, which made the experience resemble a dated Motel room. Not quite the vibe you'd want for the Owner's Suite. So we added in some nice floating sinks, a large shower, a laundry room shoot in the wall, a private water closet and a freestanding tub! The dark espresso cabinets since they float off the wall, didn't make the room feel dark. And some how with careful planning, we were able to get everything our clients wanted in their updates room!

Mikey's Room
We took this builder's grade bedroom for our clients son and transformed it by adding in this built-in reading nook!
We added in a custom cushion and pillows to bring a punch of color!
We also decided the striped curtains would also elevate the space and bring balance...

Tangerine Dreams
We carved out a great corner for our clients basement for the family of 6 to eat & enjoy table games!
The carpet needed to be removed since we needed a floor that can be easily cleaned, added their existing IKEA cabinets, a great table, bench and some storage ottomans.
The pendant light casts very beauty shadows on the ceiling and balances the bright orange wall color.

Colorful Traditional Dining
If you're a lover of Traditional style, we hope you enjoy this project.
As you can see we kept the clients table and china cabinet and layered in some new textures and colors!
The introduction of creams and teals helped this space feel light and airy.
We took some standard parsons chairs and added trim to the backs, laid down a new light colored rug and a few new accessories!
Our partner Mary, of The Drapery Shop helped to bring our custom drapery sketch to life and wow, this room is just what I clients wanted.

Lux Retreat of McLean
When we started working with these clients, they had already completed the main portion of the redesign of their main and secondary bathrooms. The builders K Squared Builders Inc., a family owned company did a phenomenal job with delivering a quality project. They just needed our assistance with various wallpapers, paint colors, countertops and accessories.
And we did just that...this collaboration worked out well for our clients and our Team.
The graphic wallpapers helped to change the tone of what could have just been a "standard" white bathroom.
We brought in a textured wallpaper from Romo that has a subtle color and a lot of sparkle for the main bathroom. But for the water closet we went bold. For the secondary bathroom we tied the brass hardware in with this beautiful geometric pattern from Phillip Jefferies!

Rustic Jewel Tones
We turned this transitional room in to a colorful space for entertaining, studying and lounging.
Our client loves purple and teal so we took some of her existing pieces and brought this space to Life! The added beams and built-in bookcases now speaks of a more eclectic blend of transitional and rustic vibe.

"Colorful and Rustic"Living
We recovered the existing chairs that the clients already had since they were in good condition. Added in a new leather sofa, rug, the rustic beams and a custom bookcase with storage below, for the family to enjoy some quiet time! Our custom floral arrangement mimics the colors in the artwork in the room, as we installed purple wallpaper, new wall sconces and a new marble mantle! We finished off this space by placing some new artwork over the sofa which reminds of the clients daughters. The start of this project we captured our ideas by presenting them with a 3D drawing, and with some subtle changes you can see we delivered the essence of our original ideas!

Let's Style, let's Sell
We are not a Staging company, but sometimes someone asks us if we can make an exception - so we typically will!
This was a cute 3-Story Townhouse in DC that we staged for one of our Out-of-State clients.
She had great floors, newer windows, it was rented out, then she listed it but had no movement. So she reached to us...we styled it in a very minimalist way to invite a variety for potential buyers.
And she was able to get over her asking price in less than 3 days!
Color scheme: White, cream, black and that was pretty much it!
